Summary: As Ebola, a West African disease thatcan be passed through bodily fluids, continues spreading, the CDC teams up with American airports  decide on taking precautions at airports to try and prevent the disease from spreading. The CDC set out an Ebola-Protection policy on Wednesday for travelers coming to the United Sates from
Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, countries that have been reported to have the most cases of Ebola. It is to be used in the five airports that show to have 94% of travelers coming from the three West African countries to the U.S., John F. Kennedy in New York, Washington-Dulles near Washington D.C., Newark in New Jersey,O'Hare in Chicago, and Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. The Policy calls for a health check conducted in a private area at these airports where question related to the Ebola symptoms are asked to travelers. If you are not suspected withe disease, you're free to go, but will have to monitor their health. If you are shown to have a symptoms of Ebola, an onsite CDC health officer will take you in for further analysis.

Connection to Health Class: In class, we learn about different disease you can get from sexual relations with someone if you do not take precautions or use protection. Ebola is a disease that spreads through bodily fluids that can cause death if you are not careful with your simple actions. like sneezing or coughing.

Questions: Do you think Ebola can be related to diseases like STDs? What is an action that can get you infected with Ebola?

  1. I think that Ebola can be related to diseases like STDs because it is transmitted through bodily fluids, meaning you probably can contract it through sex. Almost by every daily action a human does, the disease can be spread. Coughing, sneezing, kissing, having sex, etc., are all possible ways one can catch Ebola.

  2. I think that the answer is yes, and no. It can be related to an STD, because it is a disease that is spread between people. Ebola is much easier to get than an STD. If a person has Ebola it most likely won't be their fault for not avoiding the infected person.

  3. I think that Ebola can relate to STD's is some ways like ebola can spread and STD's can also spread. But STD's is from having sex and ebola you can catch from even someone breathing on you. It is much easier to catch Ebola then STD's But they do relate in someways. You can get Ebola from touching some people, coughing, sneezing and or even breathing on someone. Somethings you can do to try to avoid it is washing your hands often and using hand sanitizer.

  4. I think that Ebola can be related to an STD, because both can be caused through body fluids. The difference is though, that an STD can be given to you because you are not careful enough, while Ebola spreads more easily. You do not need to make a conscious decision that will put you at risk to get Ebola, like you do when you may get an STD.

  5. I think that Ebola can be related to STD's since they can both be spread from one person to the other, but STD's are probably only able to spread through sex. However, Ebola can spread through many types of contact, like touching, kissing, sex and body fluids. STD's can be prevented with a number of ways, such as condoms, vaccines, etc., but there is no vaccine to prevent you from catching Ebola nor is there any other legitimate actions to prevent it from happening, except for being careful. You never know who can have Ebola or not and I think the new layer of airport screening idea can be helpful, but airports cannot protect nor prevent everything and you still need to be careful around sick people.

  7. I think that Ebola can be related to STD's because it can be transmitted through bodily fluids, it can also probably be sexually transmitted as well. I could catch ebola very easily, like say somebody sneezed on me or shared a drink with me or whatever else. It is so easily transmitted, people wouldn’t even know that they had it until a doctor told them, otherwise they would probably think it was a common cold.

  8. I think Ebola can be related to STDs because they both can be transmitted from person to person and both diseases are really deadly. However, STDs can really only gotten by sex or by childbirth(for the child), whereas Ebola can be recieved from interacting with people that are infected, such as kissing, coughing, having sex, sharing blodd, ...etc. There are more one ways you could get infected with Ebola.

  9. I think that Ebola can relate to diseases like STDs because they are both transmitted through bodily fluids. They are also both becoming serious problems in the United States. Many precautions have been taken to avoid transmission of these diseases. Ebola can be transmitted through kissing, sneezing, coughing, spitting, etc. That makes Ebola a very deadly and easily transmitted disease which is why so many precautions have been made to avoid an Ebola outbreak in the United States.

  10. I think Ebola can be related to STDs because of the way it spreads. To be infected you have to be in contact with bodily fluids and that's the same with an STD, but with an STD, the bodily fluid has to be inside the person. I feel that Ebola spreads much faster if the person isn't in a sectioned off area. With an STD, people can be around people with STDs because normally, people don't have sex just randomly without knowing if someone has an STD. One way to get infected by Ebola is by kissing, having sex, or even things as simple as being spit of accidentally then eventually licking your fingers. To prevent this, people should avoid touching their face and washing their hands often. Ebola is a very dangerous virus and if no precaution is taken, it can become a pandemic or an epidemic.

  11. I believe that ebola isn't really considered a STD because it is not sexualy transmited and with ebola it is totally different you can not get infected with and STD just by getting close to someone STDs are only transmuted through unprotected sex but people can still be around other people who have STDs. Ebola is totally different you can not be close to a person with ebola because you can get infected by just breathing after the coughed. Thing that can make a person be infected with ebola is not washing hands constantly eating from other peoples food (with the same fork, spoon.ect) and also tucking your face without washing your hands first.
